Cooking Class – An Exciting Hands-on Experience in the Life Skills Program
As part of the life skills development program at Lac Hong Bilingual School, Grade 5 students participate in engaging “cooking class” sessions — an activity rich in real-life experience, allowing them to explore the world of cuisine while developing essential life skills.
Students Learn Safe and Scientific Kitchen Procedures
During each lesson, students are carefully guided through a structured and age-appropriate cooking process, including:
-
Proper handwashing and personal hygiene before entering the kitchen
-
Safe and correct use of cooking tools, knives, and equipment
-
Sorting ingredients and preparing food
-
Balancing flavors, colors, and nutrition in each dish
With these systematic steps, students gradually gain confidence in preparing simple yet creative dishes and beverages.
A Space for Collaboration, Responsibility, and Creativity
Each group operates like a “mini restaurant,” where students work together to plan their menu, assign roles, prepare and present their dishes, and tidy up the kitchen afterward.
Through this process, they not only learn cooking techniques but also develop valuable skills such as self-service, teamwork, attention to detail, creativity, and personal responsibility.
Where Life Skills and Emotions Grow Naturally
Cooking lessons take place in a joyful, lively atmosphere filled with laughter, excitement, and the warm aroma of freshly prepared food. This experience beautifully reflects the spirit of “learning, doing, and loving” that LHBS continually strives for.
Many parents have shared their pride seeing their children confidently prepare small meals at home — becoming not only more skillful, but also more mature and independent each day.
