Developing public speaking skills – an essential foundation for 21st-century students
In this week’s 21st-Century Skills lesson, our 4th graders had an exciting and inspiring session as they explored public speaking – a crucial skill that helps them express their ideas confidently and engage their audience effectively.
Learning how to craft a powerful speech:
They were guided through each step of building a strong presentation, from choosing a topic and organizing ideas, to structuring an engaging introduction, body, and conclusion, as well as learning techniques for capturing the audience’s attention.
Scriptwriting and teamwork:
Working in groups, they brainstormed, wrote scripts, shared ideas, listened to one another, and learned how to collaborate and make decisions together.
Shining with confidence:
The moment they stepped forward to present their speeches became the “sweet reward” of all their hard work – a proud milestone in their learning journey.
