Career guidance is not only about helping students choose a major or a university. More importantly, it is a meaningful journey of supporting students as they better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, explore their interests, and gradually build a development pathway that is right for them.
Recently, the School Psychology Department of Lac Hong Bilingual School organized a career guidance training session for secondary teachers. The program focused on key topics such as career guidance theories and principles, the school-based career guidance pathway, important considerations for teachers when advising students, and practical approaches to handling real-life counselling situations.
Through engaging activities such as the Holland Code career test, group discussions, grade-level career pathway analysis, and role-play scenarios, teachers gained more scientific, practical, and student-centered perspectives on supporting students in choosing subject combinations, majors, universities, and future career directions. The training not only helped strengthen teachers’ counselling and mentoring skills, but also reaffirmed the school’s important role in building a well-structured career guidance ecosystem. This enables students to make confident and informed choices that align with their interests, abilities, and the changing needs of society.
